Mareeba Shire Council in North Queensland has chosen Taggle to deploy an Automatic Meter Reading network in the town of Mareeba. Taggle’s Low Power Wide Area sensor network will collect hourly data from approximately 3850 water meters of various types and sizes for use in billing, leak detection, DMA mass balance and infrastructure analysis and planning.

News of Council’s decision was reported on the front page of today’s edition of The Express, Mareeba’s local newpaper. The article cited revenue losses arising from old water meters which no longer measure accurately as a key factor in the decision to replace the meters. It also stated that “…Council has approved the replacement of aged meters and the installation of the highly cost effective “Automated Water Meter” reading equipment. to reduce costs and create efficiencies”.
